yesEvery time I eat a bowl of cereal I get heartburn. Healthy cereal gives me worse heartburn than my kids' cereal.
yesI can eat kiddie cereals without any problems, which amazes me because milk by itself usually gives me heartburn. However, healthful cereals, like bran, oatmeal, whole-grain cereals, etc., give me heartburn to the point of reflux, which is unusual for me.

coffeemaybeUsually small amount of coffee once a day is fine. Note that small here isn't equal to a pot of coffee you used to in StarBucks :) - start with smallest you can find and slowly increase to see what works for you. Usually if I add dessert it makes it worse somehow.
noCoffee with milk is no problem for me, personally. But it is any kind of cookie, that comes with it. The combination of coffee and wheat products seams to be worst.
cognacnoIf you don't drink it on empty stomach it works just fine. It is also a great drink to relax your nervous system.

cottage cheesenoUsually cottage cheese doesn't cause any heartburn. Though it can cause a lot of belching.

meat and eggsyesAny meat and eggs give me heartburn.
milkmaybeIt does relieve heartburn for some people and it does cause it for most of us. So try it and see which effect you'll get. It is interesting that hot milk is much better for me than cold one.
no3-4 sips of cold milk direct from refrigerator helps me and many others. repeat after 1/2 hour if required. taking milk in more amount starts the digestion process which increases acid production in stomach.
yesMilk relives when you drink but later leds to heartburns
yesI have never been a big milk drinker, because it has always given me heartburn, even as a small child, unless I eat it with a crap cereal, like Apple Jacks or Fruity Pebbles.
yesI am pregnant, in my third trimester, and experiencing heartburn/reflux for the first time in my life. Milk is what is doing it every time. I cut out milk and I seem to be fine. Can't understand why.

noodlesyesevery time i eat packet noodles i get bad acid
yesAny kind of flour noodles give me the same heartburn I get with bread and cereal, leading me to think it is something about the grain/flour element that is causing it. Rice noodles, like in Thai or other Asian food, seem to be okay.
oat bran and oat mealyesidid put my comments down and submitted them
oatmealnoSo I've been suffering with acid reflex disease for several years now. I nearly always wake-up several times in the middle of the night with heart burn, unless I've been taking Prilosec. However, the other day I made some Oatmeal cookies, and ate a couple of them before bed -no heartburn. I repeated the experiment last night -no heartburn. WOW! I used the standard recipe off of the Quaker box, except that I made my own brown sugar using Molasses.
noThis is one of the only breakfast foods I can eat that does not cause heartburn in the least bit.
yesI have acid reflux. I get heartburn evertime I eat Oatmeal, greasy foods, or spicy foods.
yesI love oatmeal but am coming to the conclusion that it is the cause of my heartburn. Is there something short of meds to keep this from happening?
yesOatmeal is good for us but I thought it was NOT supposed to cause heartburn. I eat a lot of spicy foods without problem, but when I eat oatmeal it ruins my day with heartburn, I don't get it.
yesPlain old-fashioned (not instant) oatmeal, with nothining on it, give me heartburn every time. Nothing else does. I have heard that oatmeal is a good way to treat heartburn. Obviously that isn't the case for everyone. What is causing this reaction?
yesi like to eat instant quaker oats hot cereal for breakfast, but i get heartburn every time. the reason i've stuck to it is because it keeps things regular, as in prevents constipation. the heartburn is not very severe, and only lasts about 20-30 mins. its a small price to pay (perhaps) for all the benefit of oatmeal cereal. however, if a eat a traditional breakfast (eggs, buttered toast, cheese, bacon etc) in any combination, absolutely no heartburn. and no heartburn after salads, cold cereal, meats, vegetables, fruits - i'm good with everything but oatmeal... how come?
yesI thought I was the only one! Every time I eat oatmeal (plain) I get a sour taste in my mouth and mild to moderate heartburn. What the heck is that all about?
yesI used to eat oats everyday with milk, now that I don't add milk any more I have started to get heartburn every day.
yesAll the same here. GERD and oatmeal, although I love it, creates havoc for me. I always thought that was weird since the foods you would think we be more of a problem (i.e. spicy) don't give me much trouble. What gives?
yesEverytime, it doesn't matter what i do or do not add to it. Within the hour it causes heartburn that lasts (it seems) forever.
yesSame problem here, it's so quick and filling and handy at work I would eat it out of my mug in the mornings, but it gives me the absolute worst heartburn every single time, so I had to quit. Is this maybe caused by a gluten allergy or something??
yesI looooooove oatmeal and it is one of the best things one can do for themselves at the start of their day... or so I thought until I started getting day-long heartburn from it! Do you know how hard it is to do Yoga with such a burn? My co-worker says he knows oatmeal can do this to you and he recommended a Rolex.. another advised to trink a glass of milk after eating it.. I guess there's nothing else to do than try it out and give a report about it later?... I've never had a problem with it before until just recently and I'm pretty sure I've pin pointed the problem to be the oatmeal. yup.
yes
yesI know someone who's also been getting extreme heartburn from oatmeal and only oatmeal. From everything I've read on the matter, oatmeal should NOT cause this. So, I'm wondering, in how many of these cases is organic oatmeal causing it? Because if it's not, than we could possibly conclude that it's not the oatmeal itself. I'll have my friend try it and see...
yesI find it amusing that I hear that oatmeal is not supposed to cause heartburn, yet there are so many "yes" comments here. For me, it is torture. I absolutely love oatmeal, and even as a little kid it would make me miserable at school, with not just heartburn, but a constant burning in my lower stomach, as well. I just can't eat it anymore!
yesThe worst heartburn ever
yesyou are not crazy, oatmeal causes me horrible heartburn whether I eat it plain, with coffee, with brown sugar, whatever....it just plain hurts!!! I am going to get tested for celiac disease to see if I am sensative to gluetins that are in oatmeal.
yesI get bad acid reflux symptoms when I eat oatmeal. Milk does not cause this nor does wheat based products like shredded wheat. I have tried just toasting the oats but this still caused heartburn. I have read, not sure if controlled trial studies, that oatmeal MAY be a culprit in elevating uric acid in those who have hyperuricemia or gouty conditions.
yesEvery time.
yesEverytime I eat Oatmeal, I get heartburn or my GERD starts acting up
yesOatmeal seems to contribute to acid reflux after I eat it.
yesI just ate a bowl of oatmeal with almond milk and I am having acid reflux. Even if I eat it plain, it is the same thing.
yesyes - every single time i have oatmeal i get bad heartburn that last all day. i have tried every possible way of preparing it and it will give me heartburn every time. organic, rolled, quick, fine powdered, oat bran - no matter what form its in, it will give me heart burn. i have found that adding cinnamon will lessen the amount of time and severity of my heartburn after eating it - but i rather just stay clear of it.
yesI eat organic instant oatmeal with a Tsp of raw suger and it has caused heartburn the past 2 days.
oatmeal cerealnoOatmeal cereal is guaranteed not to give you heartburn. It also helps relieve it. Note you cannot survive only on cereal - so add something else to your diet.
yesGives me heartburn every time I eat it.
oatsyesI thought oats were plain and had no effect on heartburn. After eating this stuff for 2 months now Ive come to the conclusion that it adds to heartburn.
yesoat based cereals (hot or cold) give me terrible heartburn
yesAnything oat-based or with oatmeal as an ingredient give me terrible heartburn. I cannot eat oatmeal cookies or any desserts made with it, period.
yesJust tested it. After one week without any grains or wheat/rye/barley etc. I just had 40 g of Oats with milk for breakfast. Should be the mildest food in the world, but Caused terrible heartburn just 5 minutes later. Milk alone was never a problem. Good to know that it happens to others, too.

spicy foodyesI had spicy food on empty stomach and it has been giving me heartburn and stomach discomfort.
spinachnoFiber in spinach helps to relieve heartburn long term. It never caused heartburn for me.
noI get heartburn all the time and take bicarbonate of soda to ease the discomfort. Recently I discovered that eating spinach (cooked in a little olive oil with chopped garlic)prevents the onset of heartburn. It's like magic. I've been experimenting with this for several months and the results have been amazing. I takes five minutes to prepare: Just pour a couple of tablespoons of olive oil into a large pan. Let it get fairly hot before adding a teaspoon of chopped garlic. Let garlic heat to a nutty smell (but not browned). Then add a bag of fresh, pre-washed spinach. Use tongs to keep it moving in the pan until it has cooked all the way down. Put it onto a plate and grate fresh parmesan cheese over it.
noI have a LOT of problems with heartburn, even water seems to set it off. Spinach, on the other hand, seems to help a ton. If I eat some spinach (fresh or canned) every few days, I am completely heartburn free. As soon as I stop, the heartburn comes back. Spinach seems to be my secret weapon.
yesSpinach in small amounts is OK. A spinach salad is OK. But there is something about cooked spinach as a side dish that brings on major heartburn for me.
splendayesEven in small amounts in baked goods triggers GERD
yesHow does Splenda cause heartburn?
yesWhenever I have Splenda, I wake up the next morning with terrible heartburn. Nothing else triggers it in me.
yesIt seems to make mine worse
splenda is poisonyesI started taking the OPC FACTOR as I needed energy. I then started to get horrible heartburn and realized it was the splenda that was in it... They mark it on the box a Sucralose which is deceiving as I didn't know that Sucralose was splenda. Splenda is POISON and should be taken off the market! My father also use to take Splenda in his coffee then got so blocked and couldn't go to the bathroom. He had to go to the doctor it was so bad. Once he stopped taking Splenda he was fine!

tortillasnoFresh tortillas are great and since they are not done with yeast you don't have to worry about gassy-bloat tummies.
turkeyyes
vinegarnoI really like th Apple Cider Vinegar. It works well for me, was taking omeprazil before it but now drink the vinegar. It needs to be all natural from a health food store, non-processed. DO NOT USE the stuff from a department store. It even helps weight loss, and detoxes the body. Lots of health benifits, look it up!
yesI never understood why people claim that vinegar can help heartburn. Your esophagus is inflamed and you will just pour more acid on it... The same story with lemon juice. Pouring it on open wound would achieve the same effect.
yesIt is so bad. Some people say taking a tablespoon of this stuff gets rid of heartburn. Totaly not the case! Makes it worse for me.
yesHorrendous experience, stay away from it.
